Update on the Fishing

The fishing has been very good and today we had some guests bring in a 114 pound halibut. They were out fishing for rock fish and landed this monster of a halibut on 25 lb test, boy were they surprised and they fought it for about 45 minutes.
The salmon fishing has really picked up over the last few weeks and right know we have some very good tides for fishing halibut.
If you have a boat come on up to Telegraph Cove Resort and try your luck out there fishing and if you don't we have 3 very experienced guides here that would be happy to take you out fishing.
If you would like more information about out guided fishing trip call us at
1-800-200-HOOK (1-800-200-4665)

As for other things going on at the Cove this summer:
The Annual Craft Fair is fast approaching, it is on August 1 so all you crafters who have stuff to sell give us a call to reserved a table at 1-800-200-4665.
Our Annual Fishing Derby is also fast approaching on August 2, entry fee is $10.00 and it starts at dawn and ends around 4PM then we all go to the campground where there is a potluck

Telegraph Cove Update!

Another update at beautiful Telegraph Cove.
The fish are still biting, we are seeing some 20-30 lb salmon coming in almost daily! We had one gentleman from Alberta come in July 6th with the first catch of his life, a 45 LB spring! You can bet he had a permi-smile that day. The catch of the week this week is a 40 Lb salmon , the location of where it was caught was kept on the down low unfortunatly, but thats okay, because they seem to be everywhere this summer!

The whales have also been active for those on the Stubbs Island Whale Watching tours, humpbacks, minkes, orcas oh my!
Grizzley bears are seen everyday grazing on the beaches of Knight Inlet as well, so no matter what you decide to do on your viset here, your bound to have an experiance of a lifetime!
It dosent get any better than this at telegraph cove, the sun has even decided to stick around awhile. But only a week or so ago, the north island had an experiance of our own, we were lucky enough to experiance a storm we only see in the prairies! Tourists and locals could be seen outside enjoying the lightshow that occured around 10 PM, it was defenetly something most of us have never seen on our little island.

More exitment at telegraph Cove came from a big black bear that seemed to have taken over the boardwalk! She was seen freely roaming around the resort, even came out for some salmon at Gordies annual saturday BBQ, luckly, Gordies little dog was there to chase her away.
She had been spotted peering inside cabin windows to fishing by the docks. But she has been taken elsewhere now. I wonder what more can happen at Telegraph Cove!?

July 3, 2009

The weather has been very nice here at Telegraph Cove and we had a nice Canada Day. We had some little helpers decorate for Canada Day and we would to thank Gillian & Emily Holmes for all there help.

Fishing, Fishing, Fishing
Fishing over the last few days has been excellent, everyone who has gone out lately has brought back fish. People have been bringing in Springs ranging from 30 lbs to about 40 lbs, we still have halibut and some rock fish coming in as well. Gordie, Roy and Leo have all had charters out and the people left extremely happy because they all had some salmon to take home.
Roy had a group of guys out today (July 3) and they came back with a 26 lb, 30 lb and a 31 lb springs and also got a coho or two (Not bad for a days fishing).

The Orca's have been spotted just outside the Cove along with the humpbacks.

Just a reminder about the Craft Fair and Annual Fishing Derby.
The Craft Fair is August 1 from 10 am until 4 pm and the Annual Fishing Derby is August 2 from dawn until about 4 pm. If any of you "Crafters" are interested in having a table at the Craft Fair just give us a call at 1-800-200-4665 and let us know what you would like to come and sell.

So the weather is great and the fishing is rapidly improving so it sounds like this season is going to be a great one.
We will have another fishing report soon, so make sure you check back.
